Competition 2
Overview
Our Competition 2 Squad builds on the default Competition Squad and adds an additional Friday evening training session.
The aim of the squad is to deliver a performance pathway for simmers through Kent County Championships, South East Regional Championships and onto National Championships.
Swimmers will be training an enhanced IM programme where their core strokes are developed to the maximum.
There will also be strong emphasis on starts, turns and finishes as well as underwater sessions.
On a regular basis swimmers will be assessed on attendance, behaviour, training and competitive performance to ensure progress is being made to expected towards goals.
Core Sessions
Due to the relatively limited pool time available, Core sessions are defined for all squads. For the Competition 2 Squad they are defined as:
- Tuesday evening – 20:30 – 21:30
- Thursday evening (Land Training – mandatory) – 19:30 – 20:15
- Thursday evening – 20:30 – 21:30
- Sunday evening – 17:30 – 19:30
Swimmers are expected to attend at least 85% of all the above sessions over a rolling three month period.
Optional Training sessions
- The Friday evening session is very popular, therefore attendance expectations are that only TWO sessions can be missed in a half term block without permission.
Failure to meet attendance targets for optional sessions may result in withdrawal of the invitation to swim the affected sessions.
