Competitions and Qualifying Times
East Invicta Championships
This championship is run by clubs in East Kent and in 2018 will be held in late November and early December. Swimmers gain entry via qualification times.
Kent County Championships
These championships usually take place in January and February, with the qualifying period from 1st January of the previous year until the closing date for entries in early January. All times must appear on Swim England Rankings and be set at meets licensed at Level 1, 2 or 3.
South East Regional 14 & Under / 15+ Championships
These championships are usually held in May and June, with the qualifying period from 1st June of the previous year until the closing date for entries in early to mid-April. All times must appear on Swim England Rankings and be set at meets licensed at Level 1, 2 or 3.
ASA National Championships
The fastest swimmers, in an individual event (Top 24 in each age group), will be invited to compete in the British Summer Championships. The next fastest swimmers, in an individual event, (20 in all events except the 800m and 1500m Freestyle which will be 15) will be invited to compete in the Swim England National Summer Meet (50m) that usually take place in August. Swimmers will have the opportunity to post a Long Course ranking time within a ‘qualification window’ – typically between March and May of the respective year.
These are held throughout the year. Information can be obtained on the club website or from the Club Desk on Tuesdays. These meets are to be used by swimmers to gain entry to the above events. Swimmers in the squads are expected to enter these open galas regularly throughout the year.
In addition to the above, the club enters the following team galas, which are by selection only.
These are a series of galas hosted by Ashford, Hythe, Black Lion, Folkestone, Faversham and Dover. This level of competition has been designed to give team swimmers an opportunity to represent their club at an inter-club level where the emphasis is on developing all strokes to a similar standard. This is for swimmers aged from 9 through to 16.
Kent Junior League
We are currently in Division 2 of this league, which is for swimmers aged 13 years and under. Each swimmer can compete in a maximum of 4 individual events, with a maximum of 2 in their own age group. There are 3 galas held in June, October and November, with the points at the end deciding which league we are in.
National Arena Swimming League
We compete in Division One, South. The swimmers ages range from 9 to Open. Children who are 9 years old by the end of the year are only permitted to swim in relays. Swimmers have to be 10 years old by the end of the year to do individual races. The league is swum over 3 galas which take place in October, November and December.
